Material conflicts between records are stated explicitly and tested against chronology, reliability, purpose and independence.
Older testimony
Memoirs, interviews and retrospective accounts assessed against earlier records instead of accepted at face value.
Evidence register
A traceable schedule of sources relied upon, with evidential role and known limitations recorded.
Further-research strategy
A clear distinction between what is established now and what additional archive access or specialist work would be required for stronger closure.

Physical archive visits, paid record retrieval, reproduction charges, licensing, specialist databases and travel are not assumed. If they are required, they are identified and agreed separately before costs are incurred.
